The toss was won by Shakib al Hasan, Bangladesh captain, who decided to bowl first at the match against New Zealand on Wednesday in Christchurch’s 5th Twenty20 tri-series game.

Tim Southee, a spinner, took over as captain of the Black Caps as Kane Williamson, who led New Zealand to victory over Pakistan on Tuesday, was rested. Martin Guptill batted third for the home team.

Three changes were made by Bangladesh from the team that fell to New Zealand on Sunday in Christchurch by the score of 8 wickets.
To improve Bangladesh’s fast bowling, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, as well as Ebadot Hossain have replaced Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Hasan Mahmud.
“We have to bat better in the middle overs,” said Bangladesh’s opening batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto.
“We lost too many wickets last time. Today is a fresh wicket so looking forward to it.”
A victory for Bangladesh at Hagley Oval by Thursday, followed by a victory over Pakistan, will guarantee New Zealand a position in the final on Friday.

Glenn Phillips’ brilliant 24-ball 60 earned him Player of the Match honours! He begins by applauding Conway’s knock plus his stand with Guptill, which provided him with the necessary platform. Mentions that despite Bangladesh having done their due diligence on him, he was still able to score. grins and acknowledges that he escaped with a few mishits. He finds it amazing how well they all batted together.

The Black Caps batted with precision, and their bowling has also been fairly controlled. In the Powerplay, Bangladesh could manage to score easily, but the home team continued to take wickets at periodic intervals and did not allow the visitors to build any kind of pace. The most impressive bowler was Adam Milne, who had three wickets to show for his added pace and variety.

Bangladesh knew it would be a difficult pursuit, but they came out with the right attitude right away. Several batters at the top of the order got starts, but they have been unable to continue. In the end, Shakib Al Hasan was the lone survivor, and the tourists are happy to have their captain back in top form with the bat.
