Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer film, “Good Bye” offers a fitting farewell with its tragi-comedy

The wide humour as well as heavy-handed tenderness, in Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandana’s movie, succeed best whenever the emotion periodically rises to the top even without belabouring.
Goodbye’s writer and director Vikas Bahl will not provide anything much space to progress past the surface. This mediocre study of loss and bereavement, which is tainted by superficial characterisation and handling, cannot be saved by Amitabh Bachchan.
The Pandemic made us aware of the ephemeral aspect of life, making tales that depict the pain and agony associated with a family member’s unexpected death feel all the more authentic. Vikas Bahl, the writer-director of the film Goodbye, examines how various people deal with sorrow in different ways.
The expression of loss and suffering on the big screen is only successful if the story’s major emotions are differentiated with the appropriate complexity and articulated with genuine empathy. Goodbye’s writer and director Vikas Bahl will not give anything much space to progress past the surface.

The Cast

Actors: Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rashmika Mandanna, Eli AvrRam, Pavail Gulati, Shivin Narang, Sahil Mehta, Abhishekh Khan

Director: Vikas Bahl

The Plot

Coping with death as well as its effects is a common problem. A divided Chandigarh family learns of the death of a beloved family member in the movie “Goodbye” in various ways. This also discusses what happens whenever you go to an empty house in which the spirit of the deceased person is still very much there.

The Story

Tara (Rashmika Mandanna), a lawyer, lives there with Mudassar (Shivan Narang). She leaves following winning her initial case to go out and party. Calls and mails from Tara’s mother Gayatri go unanswered (Neena Gupta).

Whenever her father Harish (Amitabh Bachchan) arrives the following day, she learns that Gayatri has passed away. To spend time with Harish, she quickly travels to her birthplace of Chandigarh.
The other three children of Harish—Nakul, Karan (Pavail Gulati), as well as an adoptive son named Angad—were all living elsewhere.
In addition, Karan and Angad booked the first available flight to Chandigarh. Nakul isn’t reachable in the meantime. Tara is the initial person there.
In the meantime, Tara and Harish argue over the funeral rites. Harish is also enraged at Karan and Angad because he believes they are unaffected by their mother’s passing. Harish’s behaviour causes fights to start inside the house. Neither of them has a choice, though. They will have to share a home for a few days. What happens next determines how the rest of the film will pan out.
The odd blending of genres in “Goodbye”—tragi-comedy, coarse humour, plus heavy-handed emotionality—works best when the emotion sporadically bubbles to the surface unaltered.

The First Half and the Review

People watching will cry during the first half. Adroitly weaved into the narrative, the humour doesn’t seem out of place. The local aunties’ songs and those by P P Singh (Ashish Vidyarthi) are amusing. We have all met people like this during funerals, thus they are immensely relevant.
The scenario during which the family members act as though Gayatri is talking to them is charming and expertly handled. It’s very enjoyable to listen to the Haridwar track with Pandit Ji in the second half (Sunil Grover).

The Lag and the Lack

After that, events start to occur at random. Some of the components seem forced. The animation flashback starring Amitabh Bachchan as well as Neena Gupta is cute and inventive. However, the timing is off, and it should have been revealed in a different scene. The sheer quantity of developments will confuse viewers.
Tara often berates her mother for not having complete trust. But neither of these facts nor Gayatri’s enthusiasm for the ukulele are ever made clear in the flashback scenes. Nakul’s track is the film’s biggest flaw.
It is not proven by the filmmakers that Harish and Gayatri had three sons. Except for two instances, nobody in the movie is concerned about Nakul’s whereabouts or the reason he didn’t make it to his own mother’s funeral. Even other kids’ tunes are difficult to understand.

Neena Gupta and Amitabh Bachchan duo

There is real heat between the two. Gupta, who should have been on the screen for more time, shines. And Amitabh Bachchan, after an extremely long time, allows himself to pause and inject real emotion into his role as a husband who is unsure of what to do with himself now that his lodestar has disappeared and a father who is working hard to restore the previous level of intimacy among his flock.
Roles and the actors/actresses.
Amitabh Bachchan puts on a fantastic performance and gives his all as usual. He does a beautiful job of capturing the pain and hatred he feels about the situation. On-screen, Rashmika Mandanna has a commanding presence. Neena Gupta is a wonderful person. Sunil Grover shows in for a little while and is hilarious.

The others

The forced humour that surrounds the sorrow is offensive and irritating. Sunil Grover’s cheerful portrayal of the “modern” pandit at Haridwar livens things up a little but serves as another teaching tool for the youngsters, who unsurprisingly learn to grin instead of yell at one another. Their adorable Labrador, who had given up eating, is also drawn in by the allure of food. The movie emphasises that once again predictably, life moves on.
The flavour of the relationship between an older guy and a young woman, how they met, as well as the sorrow of the one left behind are the final things you are taking away. Only a few places caused my eyes to become teary.
The relatability factor, performances, and emotional moments help GOODBYE thrive as a whole.

IND Vs SA, 2nd T20I: India Beat South Africa By 16 Runs

In a high-scoring second T20I, India defeated South Africa by 16 runs to grab a commanding 2-0 lead in the 3-match series on Sunday. After being put in to bat, India amassed a substantial 237 for three runs thanks to the top four’s good batting performance. They then came back to restrict the guests to 221 for 3 runs within the allotted 20 overs. For the guests, Quinton de Kock (69 not out) plus David Miller (106 not out) scored the majority of the runs. At the Barsapara cricket stadium here, KL Rahul (57) plus Rohit Sharma (43) placed on a 96-run opening stand to lay the groundwork for India.

Suryakumar Yadav (61) then took the stage, smashing 5 boundaries as well as many sixes on his way to a 102-run partnership with Virat Kohli off only 40 balls (49 not out). However, in his seven-ball 17 not out, Dinesh Karthik delivered some lusty punches.

Highlights from India vs. South Africa’s second Twenty-20 match, ball-by-ball Commentary: After being put in to bat, India amassed a substantial 237 for three runs thanks to the top four’s good batting performance. They then came back to restrict the guests to 221 for 3 runs within the allotted 20 overs.

In the second T20I match here on Sunday, India defeated South Africa by a score of 16 runs thanks to a powerful batting performance. The host team won all three games to win the series 2-0.

India scored a massive 237 for three to eliminate South Africa from the game. The pursuit was unsuccessful because Deepak Chahar’s opening over resulted in a maiden for captain Temba Bavuma. David Miller made a sincere effort to hit the target and scored his highest T20I total. Miller, though, had an excessive amount of work. India overpowered the opponent and maintained dominance the entire game.

India enjoyed a routine South African bowling performance after being put in.

The South African assault provided an enticing selection of long hops, full tosses, plus overpitched freebies as Rohit Sharma (43),  KL Rahul (57), Virat Kohli (49 n.o.), with Suryakumar Yadav (61) made merry.

Particularly Suryakumar made the most of the errant deliveries. By threading a waist-high full toss off Wayne Parnell over point for six, he quickly reached his fifty within 18 balls. The South Africans appeared to have no idea what was going on as Suryakumar slammed the ball to all parts of the ground. Within the 19th over, Suryakumar was run out, yet by this time, the Mumbai batsman had decisively shifted the game in India’s favour.

In a T20I, Suryakumar tied the second-fastest 50 by an Indian.

Rahul recently produced one of his best T20I performances. The starter showed good intentions by scoring runs at a strike rate of above 200. Rahul relished on deliveries that strayed on his pads, flicking it over square-leg for maximums with his wrists.

As usual, Kohli was quite active, varying his stroke and taking advantage of mishit balls.

When a snake reached the playing area, the game was temporarily suspended. The umpires were alerted to the intrusion by the batters Rohit and Rahul. While shocked onlookers and cricketers watched, a few groundsmen arrived with the necessary instruments to remove the snake.

A second interruption occurred, but this time it happened as South Africa was batting. The failure of one of the floodlights resulted in a sizable delay. To wait for the lights to turn back on, the players were compelled to leave the field.

IND versus SA: Arshdeep Singh scores 26 runs Actual Score

In the penultimate over, Miller pulled a Miller, hitting Arshdeep Singh for 2 sixes and 2 fours. 26 runs were scored overall in the over, and South Africa needs 37 more runs from the final 6 balls to win.

Conclusion India defeated South Africa by a score of 16 runs. With one game left, they also end the series with it, 2-0. Quinton de Kock also contributed with a 69 not out of 48 balls as South Africa held strong, but one must accept that India had the upper hand ever since they put a frightening total of 237/3 on the board within the first innings.

The Air Force received the first of these helicopters today

The 5.8-ton light combat helicopter is armoured, capable of night strikes, and has crash-worthy landing gear for greater survivability.

India’s defence minister, Rajnath Singh, will be present to witness the introduction of the country’s initial light combat helicopters to the AF – Air Force on Monday. The defence minister stated on Sunday that the induction could give a “huge boost” to the IAF’s “fighting prowess” before his trip to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, wherein induction is scheduled to take place.

A light combat helicopter’s features include all-weather fighting capabilities, agility, high altitude performance, manoeuvrability, and extended range. These helicopters were created by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and additional features claimed for improved survivability include armour protection, night assault capability, plus crash-worthy landing gear.

In March of this year, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) authorized the purchase of 15 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) Limited Series Production for a price of Rs. 3,887 Cr., coupled with infrastructure sanctions of Rs. 377 Cr.

According to authorities quoted by the news agency, the 5.8-tonne twin-engine helicopter that will be inducted on Monday already has passed several weapons fire tests.

The Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan, or Make-In-India project, claims that India has been steadily focusing on improving its ability to domestically design, build, and create cutting-edge technologies and systems as in defence sector.

A KEY MILESTONE IN DEFENCE PRODUCTION

Rajnath Singh remarked during the induction ceremony, “For a long time, there was a need for attack helicopters and during the 1999 Kargil war, its need was felt seriously. The LCH is a result of research & development for two decades. And its induction into the IAF is an important milestone in defence production.”

He added, “LCH is capable of dodging the enemy, carrying a variety of ammunition, and delivering it to the site quickly. LCH perfectly meets the needs of our armed forces in various terrains and it is an ideal platform for both our Army and Airforce.”

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited produces the light combat helicopter, an exclusive combat helicopter that was conceived and produced in India (HAL).

As per HAL, the light combat helicopter satisfies the unique needs of the Indian Armed Forces by being the only attack helicopter in the world which can take off and land at an elevation of 5,000 metres (16400 feet) while carrying a sizable load of fuel or weapons.

The helicopter has all the necessary agility, range extension, manoeuvrability, high altitude performance, plus 24/7/365 all-weather combat capabilities. The Indian Air Force and Army might use it as a powerful platform to suit their operational needs.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorised the purchase of 15 locally developed Limited Series Production (LSP) LCH in March for a total of Rs 3,887 crore. Ten helicopters will be given to the Indian Air Force and five to the Indian Army, according to the defence ministry.

The helicopter has been put through rigorous operational testing in places like the desert, Siachen, and sea level.

10-Point Guide

  • The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), created by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), a state-owned aerospace company, was primarily intended for use in high-altitude environments. At an event in Jodhpur, this was admitted into the IAF in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
  • The name of the helicopter—currently known as the LCH—will likely be revealed by the defence minister. Then he is supposed to fly one of the choppers on a sortie.
  • The Indian Army as well as Indian Air Force’s attack helicopter formations would be built on the light combat helicopter during the subsequent years. The 5.8-ton, twin-engine helicopter has successfully passed several weapon fire tests, according to the officials.
  • Although we also have the American Apache helicopter, which is bigger and probably more competent, this one serves a particular purpose, especially during missions at extremely high altitudes where it can transport a substantial payload. The chopper’s design is wholly indigenous to India. The Indian integration is complete.
  • Over Ladakh, the helicopter has been tested. It has air-to-air missiles that can destroy Chinese drones. Employing air-to-surface anti-tank weapons, it can even destroy tanks that are on the ground.
  • To the Indian Army will go 95 of these helicopters. A few others have already enlisted. Around 65 will also join the Indian Air Force. The initial allocation for the Indian Air Force was more than 3,500 crores, making this a tremendously expensive undertaking. As approval is granted, the price will gradually be updated. As future versions of this helicopter are created, that sanction will be granted over time.
  • The LCH and the Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv are comparable. According to the officials, it boasts several stealth characteristics, armoured protection systems, night assault capability, as well as crash-worthy landing gear for improved survivability. It has the necessary agility, extended range, manoeuvrability, high altitude performance, as well as all combat capacity to carry out a variety of tasks, including the destruction of enemy air defence (DEAD), counter-insurgency (CI), as well as combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations.
  • The helicopter can be utilized to support ground forces, conduct high-altitude bunker-busting operations, and conduct counterinsurgency operations in urban and jungle areas.
  • The helicopter may also be used to take out enemy remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs) and stationary aircraft. According to officials, it will be a powerful platform to satisfy the operational needs of the Indian Army and IAF. According to them, the LCH has been combined with cutting-edge technologies and systems that are compatible with stealth features including reduced visual, radar, aural, and IR signatures and crashworthiness characteristics for greater survivability for use in combat missions.

Conclusion

The initial batch of locally produced light combat helicopters was delivered to the Indian Air Force on Monday. Today in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the induction ceremony for the first light combat helicopter (LCH) built domestically was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

Navratri 2022: Important Kanya Puja principles and their implications for Ashtami and Navami

Hinduism holds that the feminine identity represents the widespread creative talent. Mahamaya is the initial power, inspired by whom the deity and the rest of the cosmology were made. The imagination is what gives all of discovery life. Numerous goddesses serve as representations for all the principal and minor sources of energy and forces. It is believed that Mahamaya, the primary motivation behind the Navaratra goddess Durga, is the source of all of her embodiments.  Nine goddesses are worshipped over the course of nine days, stage art pieces are used, the prodigy is recited, the narrative is acted out, and Hindu religious texts are chanted. The nine days also serve as a significant harvest season cultural festival, with activities like pandal layout and orchestrating competitions, family visits to these pandals, and live appearances of Hindu dances from both the classical and popular traditions. Navaratri is frequently observed by Hindu devotees by fasting. The figurines are now either burned with firework displays to symbolise the defeat of cruel on the the last day, known as Vijayadashami, or they are submerged in a water body like a river or the ocean. Additionally, during this time, Deepavali (the festival of lights), which is observed twenty days after Vijayadashami, is being prepared for.

Importance of every day

  • Day 1: This day is referred to as Pratipada (first day) and is connected to Shailaputri (“Daughter of Mountain”), a manifestation of Parvati. As daughter of Himavan (the protector deity of the Himalayan region), Durga is adored in this version. She is shown cruising the bull Nandi and holding a trishula in her right wrist and a flower in her left. Mahakali is regarded as having an immediate embodiment in Shailaputri. Yellow, the colouring for the day, represents activity and vitality. She is also referred to as Hemavati and is believed to be a replica of Sati, Shiva’s first wife who later takes the form of Parvati.
  • Day 2: Goddess Brahmacharini, a different form of Parvati, is revered on Dwitiya . Yogini, Parvati’s unmarried self, took on this form. Brahmacharini is revered for bestowing moksha, or liberation, as well as prosperity and tranquility. She represents joy and peace and is portrayed as walking barefoot while carrying a japamala (prayer beads) and a kamandala (pot). Today’s colour scheme is green. Occasionally, the serene orange colour is utilized to create a powerful life force energy everywhere.
  • Day 3: The third day, or Tritiya, honours the adoration of Chandraghanta; the name stems from the fact that Parvati wore the ardhachandra on her top of the head ever since she wed Shiva. She is both the epitome of beauty and a representation of heroism. The third day’s colour scheme is greyish, which is vigorous and can lift anyone’s spirits.
  • Day 4: On Chaturthi, devotees pray the goddess Kushmanda (fourth day). The colour scheme that day is orange because Kushmanda, who is thought to represent the universe’s driving spark, is linked to the creation of vegetative cover on earth. She is pictured sitting on a tiger as well as possessing eight hands.
  • Day 5: On Panchami (the fifth day), the deity Skandamata is revered as Skanda’s mother (or Kartikeya). Whenever a mother’s infant faces hazard, the colour white is a representation of her morphing power. She is shown to have four arms, be riding a fierce lion, and be carrying her infant.
  • Day 6: Katyayini is a personification of Durga who was born to the wise man Katyayana and is depicted as displaying the boldness that the colour red represents. She is referred to as the warrior deity and is among Devi’s most aggressive manifestations. Katyayani has four arms and a lion as her alter ego. She is a manifestation of Mahalakshmi and Parvati. Shashtami is her day of celebration (sixth day). On this particular day, Maha Shashti and the beginning of the shardiya Durga Puja are noticed in eastern India.
  • Day 7: On Saptami, Kalaratri, thought to be the fiercest manifestation of Goddess Durga, is worshipped. According to legend, Parvati shed her fair skin in order to slay the evil spirits Sumbha and Nisumbha. Navy blue is the day’s tint. The Goddess has blazing eyes and wears red clothing or tiger skin. Her skin darkens as she displays her fury. The worshippers are assured that the Goddess will keep them safe by using the colour red, which symbolises worship. On Saptami, she is honoured (seventh day).
  • Day 8: Mahagauri is a representation of wisdom and harmony. It is said that Kaalaratri’s skin warmed up after taking a dip in the River ganges. Pink, a hue that symbolises positivity, is the hue connected with this day. Ashtami is her day of celebration (eighth day). On this particular day, Maha Astami is celebrated in eastern India.  It is an extremely significant tithi and is recognised as the birthday of Chandi’s Mahishasuramardini avatar.
  • Day 9: The ninth day, or Navami, is the final day of the celebration, when Siddhidhatri is prayed to. She is said to have all kinds of Siddhis and to foist them while seated on a lotus . The magenta hue of the day, also referred to as Mahalakshmi, symbolises awe for the splendor of nature. The wife of Shiva, Parvati, is Siddhidatri.  The goddess Siddhidatri is thought to have a side on Lord Shiva’s body. The name Ardhanarishwara is thus another name for him. Religious texts from the Vedas claim that Lord Shiva worshipped this Deity in order to achieve all the siddhis.

Kanya puja will be carried out by numerous individuals as a component of the Navratri ceremonies. Let’s explore the explanation for this ritual.

Quick knowledge:

  • The eighth day of Navratri adoration is known as Maha Ashtami.
  • A nine-day festival is called Navratri.
  • The 9 days of fasting must culminate with the Kanya/Kanjak puja.

On October 3, 2022, the region will start celebrating Maha Ashtami, also known as Durga Ashtami. The nine-day festival commemorates the triumph of goodness over evil and the conclusion of Maa Durga’s conflict with the evil spirit Mahishasura. This year’s Shardiya Navratri started on September 26 and will end on October 4 with the Navami puja and on October 5 with Dussehra/Vijayadashami. Numerous Hindu families perform Kanjak or Kanya Pooja mostly on momentous occasion of Ashtami, during which nine girls who haven’t yet gone through puberty are invited into the home by having to wash their feet. Although practised throughout India, the ritual is particularly well-known in places like Delhi, Punjab, Bihar, etc..

Some family members choose to perform Kanjak or Kanya Puja on Maha Navami. Why exactly are these nine young girls being worshipped? Let’s explore.

What exactly is Kanjak/Kanya puja?

Young girls who would be adored this day are said to be epitome of Goddess Durga, according to the Devi Bhagwat Puran. Kanjak Puja or Kanya Pujan is the name for the devotion of ten girls and one boy (known as Langur) for the same purpose, and it is also preceded by amazing food (bhog). Because children are believed to have the clearest spirits since they have little or no  negative emotions, Kanjak puja is practised. And honouring nine girls during this puja is comparable to honouring Goddess Durga in each of her nine incarnations.

Importance of Kanjak/Kanya puja?

Kanjak puja is managed to perform on Ashtami or Navami (the eighth or ninth day of Navratri). You could indeed express your gratefulness to the Divine Goddess in this way as well. Nine girls are greeted at the door and presented with gifts and delectable bhog. They are idolised as such nine spiritual aspects of Goddess Durga—embodied in these young girls who have yet to hit puberty.

Norms of Kanjak/Kanya Puja

  1.  Nine prepubescent girls are invited into the home.
  2.  Prior to getting requested to sit on a cloth, those very same young girls and one boy (langur) have their feet cleaned and left to dry.
  3. A tilak is applied to their foreheads, and they have kalava attached around their forearms.
  4. Following the distribution of the prasad of delicate coconut, people are then given halwa and kaale chane.
  5. Additionally, gifts such as money, accessories, apparel, and other items are given to the young girls.
  6. They were bid farewell by people approaching their feet and asking for their good wishes.

To everyone celebrating, a happy Navaratri!
